Movie at the Mural

The Mural Amphitheater used to be one of my favorite places back in the Pain in the Grass days. Now they have weekend movies which I didn't know about till just now and its the last weekend. The Seattle center emails were going in my junk mail, doh!

The line up this weekend is as follows:

Friday - 8 August

  • Dusk - The Goonies
Yes back when Cyndi Lauper and Cpt. Lou Albano were buddies she was in a movie that I don't even think I liked as a kid although I did like Cyndi Lauper's music. Hey, Girls just wanna have fun is a classic and now I know you will have that song stuck in your head all weekend! She doesn't really have anything to do with the film, but for me they both mark the same moment in time.

Saturday  - 9 August

I might have to stop in to check out the crowd for RHPS. I had my high school moments of attending that every weekend back at Shawnee HS in Medford Lakes, NJ... ah the memories... RockyCon2008 is in Atlantic City, NJ, of course!

BTW, whatever DID happen to Saturday night?

New Toy On The Way

Sangean ATS-909 Shortwave Radio Receiver

This will replace my broken Radio Shack radio that I'm giving to Divide who will probably fix it in 2 hours. :-)

Bassnectar Tweet

The show was amazing last night. I've not been in such a great crowd of people at Nuemos since it Moes Mo Roccin' Cafe and matty and I were seeing 7 Year Bitch. Bass was totally reorganizing my DNA! The crowd was great. It was a good night to say the least, restored my faith in the beats.

Here's a little Tweet poem I wrote while I was there....

Spiderwick Chronicles

SpiderwickDawn and I saw The Spiderwick Chronicles this weekend and I must say I loved it. Its got that Harry Potteresque fantasy thing going for it but with more present day characters and settings. The basic concept is that every imaginary being (ogres, goblins, hobgoblins, fairies, pixies, etc..) are real and of course there's always the good vs. evil thing. The special effects are great and while this will clearly be an series you get the sense there is a lot more story to tell and a lot more amazing creatures to meet.

Its based on a series of book which I have never read. The Harry Potter films never made me want to read the books, but based on the movie, these look like 'young adult' books I might actually enjoy.

Definitely worth seeing. My only warning would be to avoid matinees as you will be swamped with kids. We went to an 8 o'clock show in Ballard and even then there were a lot of kids, some younger (and louder) than should be out that late (go on a school night).

Canceled my Emusic Subscription

I was an EMusic subscriber years ago back when I discovered they pretty much had all the punk you could every want. Well now that I've had all the punk you could every want and downloaded the Johnny Cash Sun Records I decided it was time to say the $15 a month. At some point I'll want to sign up for something again but for now I was feeling like I had to find something to download as opposed to wanting to download something. Buy Emusic.... see you again someday I'm sure....
